नई दिल्ली वीर सावरकर को लेकर जारी चर्चा के बीच ने श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी का जिक्र किया है। उन्‍होंने रविवार को कहा कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी (BJP) के विचारक श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी वास्तविकता से कम आंके गए विद्वान थे। उनकी शिक्षाविद के तौर पर ‘शानदार भूमिका’ को ब्रिटिश शासकों ने स्वीकार किया। ‘डॉ. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी एवं उच्च शिक्षा में उनका योगदान’ विषय पर ऑनलाइन अकामदिक व्याख्यान देते हुए सिंह ने उन्हें ‘ऐसा प्रतिभाशाली बालक’ बताया जो बहुमुखी मेधा के साथ बड़े हुए। महज 52-53 साल की छोटी जीवन अवधि में इतना कुछ हासिल कर लिया। सिंह ने कहा कि जब देश में बहुत कम विश्वविद्यालय थे और उनमें से ज्यादातर ब्रिटिश नियंत्रण में थे और ज्यादातर में ब्रिटिश अध्यापक थे, तब वह महज 34 साल की उम्र में कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति बने। उन्होंने देश के विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों में 22 दीक्षांत भाषण दिए। कार्मिक राज्यमंत्री ने कहा, ‘मुखर्जी वास्तविकता से कम आंके गए विद्वान थे और इतिहास सार्वजनिक जीवन में उनके योगदान के संबंध में उनके साथ न्याय नहीं कर पाया...वहीं अकादमिक विद्वान के तौर पर उनकी शानदार भूमिका को भी समुचित ढंग से स्वीकार नहीं कर उनके साथ नाइंसाफी की गई। जबकि इसे ब्रिटिश शासकों ने स्वीकार कर लिया था।’ सिंह ने 1936 में मुखर्जी की ओर से नागपुर विश्वविद्यालय के दीक्षांत समारोह में दिए गए भाषण का हवाला दिया जहां उन्होंने कहा था, ‘भारत मुख्य तौर पर इसलिए पिछड़ गया क्योंकि उसके लोग अहम घड़ी में विभाजित और असंगठित थे।’ मंत्री ने कहा कि अपने राजनीतिक विचार में भी मुखर्जी अकादमिक चिंतन से प्रेरित थे और यह उनके नारे ‘एक निशान, एक विधान, एक प्रधान ’ में परिलक्षित हुआ। इसके खातिर उन्होंने अपना बलिदान दिया।
